ARTIST

I am for art that makes you stop and think, and then cry, because you can’t think, you can only cry because it feels so beautiful.

I am for searching for the right image, the best angle, the simplest background -- but mostly, I am for letting go and allowing the picture to come through me.

I am for using art like a mirror – reflecting back at me a beautiful, orderly, mysterious, complex, disorienting, and true world.

I am for taking photographs that help me lose myself in the beauty of a single flower for so long, that I almost forget I have children.

I am for making images that I can’t forget – a vision that comes to me in my sleep, meditation, sadness, joy, or even emptiness.

I am for images that follow me around, until finally, I stop and listen.

I am for art that is like a good conversation. You walk away feeling challenged, new, worn out, happy, illuminated - but always feeling.

I am for creativity that stops me in my tracks, makes me question, wonder -- makes me want to sit on the back porch, and breathe.

I am for making images that help me turn away, turn inward, and turn around.

I am for art that does all my thinking for me.
